Creating your account

How to sign in to Nabu, what the first screen looks like, and what to expect the very first time you arrive.

Nabu uses passwordless sign-in — there's no password to remember. You sign in with your email (Nabu sends you a link and a short code) or with a Google or Apple account. The same screen works whether you're brand new or coming back.

Sign in or sign up

You do both from the same page: Login (at the /login web address). There's no separate "register" page — old links to one send you here automatically.

  1. Go to the Login page.
  2. Pick how you want to sign in:
  3. Continue with Google or Continue with Apple — one click, and you're in.
  4. Or type your email into the you@example.com field and click Continue with email.
  5. If you used email, Nabu sends you a message with a sign-in link and a 6-digit code. Check your inbox.
  6. Either click the link in the email, or come back to the Login page, click into the Enter your code step, type the 6-digit code, and click Verify & sign in.

That's it — you're signed in.

Note: The Google and Apple buttons only appear if those options are turned on. If you only see the email field, just use that — it works the same way.

Note: After you click Continue with email, the page says something like "Check your email. If an account can be matched, the link expires in 15 minutes." It says the same thing for everyone, new or returning — that's on purpose, to protect your privacy. It doesn't mean anything is wrong.

What each control does

  • Continue with Google / Continue with Apple — Signs you in (or creates your account) using that account. Nothing is posted anywhere; it's just a way to prove it's you.
  • Email field + Continue with email — Sends a one-time sign-in link and 6-digit code to that address.
  • Enter your code → Verify & sign in — Finishes signing in with the code from your email, handy if you opened the email on a different device than the one you're signing in on.
  • Resend code — Sends a fresh code if the first didn't arrive. There's a short wait between sends.
  • Use a different email — Starts over with a new address if you typed the wrong one.
  • Request access → — If Nabu is currently invite-only and you don't have an invite, this opens a short form (your name, email, and an optional note about why you'd like in) so you can ask for one.

When you click the link in your sign-in email, it opens a small page that says Continue to Nabu.

  • Click Continue to finish signing in.
  • If you opened the email on a different phone or computer (or a different browser) than the one you started from, you'll also see a 6-digit code field — type the code from the same email and continue.
  • If the device is already recognized, it simply says "We recognize this device — just click Continue. No code needed."

Tip: Sign-in links last 15 minutes. If yours has expired, the page will say so and offer Request a new sign-in link — click it and check your email again.

Note: It's perfectly safe if your email app shows a preview of the link. Nothing actually signs you in until you click Continue yourself.

Joining from an invite or a referral

If a friend sent you a Nabu invite or a referral link, it opens a welcome page (the Join page) that greets you and confirms the invite is valid. When a referral code is recognized, you'll see a line like "Code applied — you both get 200 credits."

  • Click Create your account to head to the Login page with your invite or referral already attached.
  • Already have an account? Click Already have an account? Sign in instead.

Credits are what you spend on Nabu's AI help — see Credits and your plan for what they're for. Credit amounts shown here reflect the current offer; the exact figure is shown in the app.

Note: If a referral link is out of date, the page will say the code isn't valid and the Create your account button will be greyed out. You can still sign in normally from the Login page.

Your first time in

The first time you sign in, Nabu welcomes you with "Welcome to NABU — Your story starts here." and asks how you'd like to begin. You pick one of three cards — there's no long setup or multi-step form to get through:

  • Ideate with Nisaba — Nisaba, your AI writing partner, interviews you about your story idea and helps you shape it. This opens the guided start-a-script flow (the wizard). Best if you have feelings and moments but no structure yet. See Starting with the wizard.
  • Write from Scratch — Gives you a quick Title (and optional logline) form, then drops you straight into a blank screenplay in the editor. Best if you'd rather just start typing.
  • Import Project — Brings in a screenplay, treatment, or outline you already have (Final Draft, PDF, plain text, and more). See Importing an existing script.

Pick whichever fits where your story is right now — you can always start more projects later from your dashboard.

Tip: The wizard works on a phone, but it's a roomier, more comfortable experience on a computer or tablet. If you're on a small screen, you might prefer to start it where you have more room to read and type.

Note: Whichever card you pick, Nabu remembers you've been welcomed, so you won't see this screen again — you'll land on your project dashboard from then on.

Coming back later

Returning is the same as signing up: go to the Login page and either use Google/Apple or your email. Once you're in, you land on your dashboard, where all your screenplays are waiting.

Tip: You can stay signed in across visits. If you ever want to sign out or check which devices are signed in, you can do that any time from your settings — see Sessions and signing out.
