Billing & Credits¶
How Nabu's credits work, what the AI work costs, and how plans, packs, and invites fit together.
Nabu's AI does the heavy lifting of screenplay craft — drafting scenes, writing coverage, running the wizard. That work runs on credits: a small balance that ticks down as you ask Nisaba (your AI writing partner) to do things for you. You don't need to think about credits most of the time; you'll only notice them when you want to know what something costs or you're running low.
This section explains where your credit balance lives, what kinds of actions spend credits, and how the optional plans and packs work.
Note: Depending on your plan, the Billing and Referrals pages may not be visible in your Settings menu yet — during the alpha they're dimmed with a "soon" label. Your live sharing surface is Invites. Everything below still describes how billing works under the hood, so you'll recognize it once these pages open up.
In this section¶
- How credits work — what a credit is, where to find your balance, and how the buckets (monthly allocation, purchased, bonus) fit together.
- What costs credits — a plain-language rundown of which AI actions spend credits and roughly how much, plus why a final charge can differ from the estimate.
- Plans and packs — the subscription tiers (Free, Pro, Studio, Enterprise), what each unlocks, and how one-time credit packs work for subscribers.
- Referrals and invites — sharing Nabu with other writers: invite codes that let people into the alpha, and the referral program that earns bonus credits for both of you.
Good to know¶
- Your balance is always in sight. The footer at the bottom of the app shows your remaining credits as
N cron every page. See How credits work for what the number means. - Credits are per workspace, not per project. Your balance is shared across all the screenplays in your workspace, so switching projects doesn't change it.
- You'll never see dollar amounts for AI work. Usage is always shown in credits, never USD — credits are the only currency you deal with inside Nabu.
- Current pricing lives in the app, not here. Plan prices and pack amounts can change, so we don't list final numbers in this manual. Once the Billing page opens up for your account, the current prices are shown there. (During the alpha that page is dimmed with a "soon" label, as noted above — so the live numbers may not be reachable from your Settings menu just yet.)
